“Trauma in the Field”, lecture given to Wilson County EMT’s focusing on pre-hospital care of the trauma patient on scene.
“Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)”, lecture discussing the use of CQI methods to improve efficiency, department flow as well as enhance patient and staff satisfaction in the ED.
“Introduction to EKGs”, series of six lectures taught to Pitt County EMT’s to increase understanding and interpretation of EKGs, as well as discuss indications for obtaining EKGs in the field.
“Insecticide Ingestions”, lecture reviewing the toxicity of organophosphates, carbamates, pyrethrins and organochlorides.
“Geriatric Trauma and the ED”, presentation focused on the special needs and considerations of the elderly trauma patient while in the ED.
“Toxicity of Hydrogen Sulfide”, presentation discussing signs, symptoms and treatment of hydrogen sulfide poisoning.
PUBLICATIONS AND RESEARCH
“Delayed onset of toxicity with unknown pesticide ingestion”, Case report presented at EAPCCT International Congress in Rome (May 20-23, 2003) and also presented during Senior Research Day in April 2003 at ECU Brody School of Medicine.
Intended goal of presentation: to increase Emergency Physician awareness of the potential for late onset symptoms of pesticide toxicity in pediatric patients.
